How To Generate Solar Power For Homes
In today’s world more and more people are switching over to non-renewable energy resources. Non-renewable energy resources are expensive, but they are also very beneficial for the environment and also help in saving power.
The use of solar power in the home is becoming an attractive proposition for a growing number of people. Once thought of as an idea only found in science fiction, solar power is now becoming a very real prospect. Many people use solar power by harnessing the sun’s energy to heat their homes and to run different appliances. It is an economical and earth-friendly way to bring power into the home.
Generating Solar Power for Homes
Solar power for home use is gaining a lot of popularity. It is not only a great way to reduce costs, it also uses clean energy. It is important to have a good understanding of where you live. If you live in a part of the world where there is not a lot of sunshine or where weather is seasonal (you have winter, summer, fall and spring), you may want to opt for just a few solar panels and continue to use traditional fuel sources or oil, when necessary.
The most basic technology used in solar power is the solar electric panel. These panels use photons in order to generate electricity. These photovoltaic (PV) panels can be free standing rigid sheets used to harness the sun’s energy. They can also be set into the roof, or you can get peel and stick laminates, depending on your roof type
1. Portable Solar Panels
Even though you may consider portable solar power panels to be an insignificant source of power, they are wonderful to use when you want to generate solar power for a small appliance. Plus, they are self contained, so you won’t need any additional source of power for your portable solar panel. If you are looking for a larger, more powerful solar power system, then you will need to have an inverter and batteries set up to collect, convert and store your solar power for you.
2. Rooftop Solar Panels
Rooftop solar panels are a very traditional way to generate solar power for your home. You can either install this yourself, or you can have a professional do it for you. The main difference here is the cost, since commercial systems are so much more expensive than do it yourself solar systems. You can also choose between photo voltaic and solar-thermal types of systems. Photovoltaic, or PV, systems are less common that thermal types of solar energy systems.
The sun’s energy is converted to electricity through a modified grid system. This system is no different to the usual grid system found in the home, except that it also converts solar energy. The system also has a meter installed that reads how much solar power the home has used compared to normal electricity. The meter subtracts the solar energy electricity, and the amount left is the figure applied to the utility bill.
